Jake Payne has just turned 20 years of age, but is a very experienced horseman with several years of showjumping riding experience behind him. With 2 years of work riding in various racing yards and 38 flat rides, Jake has now hit the winning trail three times!
An impressive 1 length win on Caustic Wit to open his account.
Two recent wins on Lordship (a 2 lengths winner at ChepstowSee picture of Jake (right) receiving the Betfair trophy at Chepstow.
Jake is currently apprenticed to Malcolm Saunders and has an impressive 12% strike rate so far this 2009 season. With no weight problem (Jake can easily do 8st 0lb and 7st 11lb with notice) Jake can take a useful 7lb off your handicapper. Jake is great value in 10 and 25 winner apprentice races, where currently on 3 winners, he gets a more than useful claim against less experienced rivals.
Jake claimed the rail as his own and came out an impreesive 3 lengths winner - see Lordship by a country mile (pic below)
Jake had a serious race riding accident at Nottingham through no fault of his own in October 2007 which temporarily put his career on hold. Jake has now fully recovered from this.
Jake qualified in July 2007 from the British Racing School - see article
